Intro about Remotasks. Its an essentially a micro-job website that promises to pay you money for performing simple tasks online. 

Some of the tasks you should expect to do include data entry, audio transcription moderating content, tagging images, categorization and so many more. Remotasks is still relatively new as it was launched recently in 2017.

However, it is quickly gaining attention from freelancers considering the fact that it pays better for some tasks than other well-established platforms.

 

 

Let's start Remotasks

Remotasks is free for all freelancers and it is open worldwide. However, you do require fluency in English.

Signing up process -

1.) Login to www.remotasks.com website

2.) Click on the sign me up button. You can sign up either via your Facebook or Google account email Id.

3.) Enter your mobile number for verification. When your verification PIN number arrives via SMS just enter it on the screen.

4.) Once your login, create your account by going to " profile". Enter your additional information about your skills etc

5.) Remotasks requires you to go through some training before you get started. This you can do through the Remotasks Training Centre. Completing a course will enable you to start working on a particular project.

6.) Next click on "Get Started " button to start the tutorial.

7.) The online tutorial comprises of two tasks that the users have to practice on. They also provide clear instructions on how to complete these tasks. The time duration depends on the users, they can take as little or as much time as they want to get the tasks done.  If you make mistakes in these practice tasks, you can retry again till the task is complete. Once completed, then do you qualify to start applying for the real tasks.

This allows you to learn new skills that you may need in the future when doing various tasks that are deemed complex such as LiDAR data. You may perform these practice tasks as many times as you want until you become competent. The more training courses that you take the more opportunities will become available.

8.) After going through the practice round, you can now start applying for tasks. On your dashboard you will find a list of tasks that you can apply for. To work on your selected tasks you must first take an exam. After passing it you get to work on the real task.

Examples of work at Remotasks includes:

LIDAR/Image annotation

This involves drawing boxes and labeling objects such as pedestrians, bus stops e.t.c. in 3D maps used by selfdriving vehicles, Picture example below

 

Image transcription

Image transcription is the process of transcribing relevant content from the provided image.

Categorisation

Categorisation involves identifying keywords and phrases to describe an image.

Audio transcription

Audio transcription is the process of converting voice recordings into a written document.

What is important with all these tasks is that you need to maintain a high accuracy score to remain a member of the platform. 

What Is also important to remember is that all tasks have a time limit, which you must also meet if you want to continue working with Remotasks

All these tasks are done for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence purpose. They have to feed such instructions to future Robotics and AI, which would help humans in future work getting done, quicker. Like driverless cars etc..

Payment Method -

Check the dashboard for your earnings accumulated. You could withdraw the earning using PayPal account.

 The payment for each task varies according to the complexity of the task. The payment rate can range from $1-$2 per hour. Which would be 10 to 15$ per week. The minimum payout is $5. The payments are made weekly.

 Points to be noted -

·         To work on Remotasks you have to be fluent in English.

·         Completing the tasks on time is very important.

·         High accuracy is required to work on tasks.

·         The more accurate your tasks are, the more your score will be.

 

Final Note -

Working on Remotasks is an good alternative to make some extra money on the side, however patience is required to perform these tasks. The pay-per-task is effective but payment rates are not too high. But again, the website is completely legit and wroth a try. Users on average earn about $30 to $40 per month working a few hours with accuracy. Why not try !!!
